[00:00:22] Okay, today we're going to be talking about he man and, and the Masters of Universe. You know, I have four different systems going on right now and I forgot to use my microphone, so I had to start over again and again and again and again. Hopefully I get it this time.

[00:01:32] So today we're going to be talking about he man and the Masters of Universe. Way back, way, way back in 1981, Mattel came out with the action figure he man. And they came up with a small mini comic strip depicting the he man character. And it was called he man and a Power Sword. This was back in 1981. Okay. And it was an action figure. Now it was based on a barbarian character and such like that. But in regards to the mini comic package with the original Mattel action figure, it was he man and the Power Sword.
[00:02:20] Later on it would be, I guess, picked up by DC Comic in 1982 and later on, even later on it would be picked up by Marvel in 1986.
[00:02:37] They had two different approach.
[00:02:41] I would say DC Comics feared more towards a. Steered more towards he man and Skeletor having a more high stakes type of engagement with each other. And that was more dc, but Marvel focused more of a self contained morale lesson type, you know, something to learn from episodic type of a thing. So it was two totally different approach for the same comic book. Okay.
[00:03:21] And I thought it was very interesting because the cartoon itself ran, I want to say it ran from 1983 to approximately 1985, maybe two seasons.
[00:03:40] And I mean, you know, growing up watching, I don't know if I was watching the original or the rerun, but it was good. I remember watching it and such like that growing up. Okay.
[00:03:57] And he man also had movies as well before this one. I haven't gotten to talk about this one, but I just wanted to talk about he man in general because I didn't know that it was he man was DC and Marvel at one point, I did not know that and that's something new that I've learned. Okay?
[00:04:21] And it's exciting because, like, when you look at the aspect of the D.C. he man there, he was more high stakes type of stuff. And it was more he man versus Skeletor type of a thing. But when it got to Marvel, they focused more on like morality lessons type of thing. It's like what you can learn from this episode or type, you know?
[00:04:46] And I thought that was interesting because both were important to give the premise of what he man is about, you know.
[00:04:57] And there are three major feature film.
[00:05:02] The first one was back in 1985. It was an animated movie. He man animated movie. And it was He man and she ra the secrets of the sword.
[00:05:16] That was back in 1985.
[00:05:19] All right, now fast forward a few years.
[00:05:23] There was the first Masters of the Universe, which starred Dolphins London, I hope I pronounced his name right as he Man.
[00:05:33] And this was live action.
[00:05:35] And just a little snippet on Dolph London. He is my, one of my favorite actors. And him and Rocky 4, when he plays the Soviet boxer, he was the guy that you love to hate. He played his role perfectly, okay?
[00:05:54] And a lot of people don't give the villain the credit they deserve because it's the villain that makes the movie or that makes the hero look good, you know what I'm saying? Because this dude came across as a beast.
[00:06:09] All right? Now when he played he man and, and Masters universe, it's the 80s, okay? So, you know what I'm saying? It's not a whole lot you could say in regards to that, you know, because, you know, they did the visual effects and special effects as best as they, they could do because it was the 80s, you know, I mean, and it did have.
[00:06:36] When I went back and revisited, I liked it. But, you know, I had, I did give them the benefit of the doubt because it's an 80s film.
[00:06:45] And with that being said, you have 80s special effects, 80s visual effects, you know, all of that. And it did have a.
[00:06:54] What is it called?
[00:06:56] Star wars type feel to it at certain point. But Dolph London is an action actor. You know, action actor. He's an action actor and he's played in a lot of movies.
[00:07:13] You know, one of the, you know, I like, you know him in Rocky, you know, as I mentioned earlier, he's the God, the guy that you love to hate. You know, he did his role perfectly. You know, you, you. It was like, okay, you know what I'm saying now with that being said, he did a wonderful job in Masters of Universe, but it is what it is. You know, a lot of people might talk about the writing of the movie or whatever. I'm not going to deep dive into that. That's not what we here to review. I'm going to chop it up as a great B movie for what it was in the 80s and it was in the 80s, so. You know what I mean?
[00:08:04] Absolutely.
[00:08:07] And moving forward to this one is like, you know, he did a good job and I don't remember his name right now. I got my little cheat sheet over here.
[00:08:25] Nicholas.
[00:08:28] I can't pronounce his last name, but I believe he did a good job. The dude named Nicholas or whatever.
[00:08:38] I believe he did a good job. And in. In the first one, they did do a lot of emphasis on he man's muscles. Right.
[00:08:47] And in this one, it wasn't just his muscles, it was also his intellect.
[00:08:52] Now, there were some people said that it was kind of silly, but I don't think so given the aspect of them staying true to the design or the cartoon design or comic book design of Eternia and the weapon systems that they had available.
[00:09:14] I thought I did. I thought they did a really good job. I really do.
[00:09:22] Did have like.
[00:09:24] It wasn't a serious action film. And I think that's what the first one was trying to do. The first masters universe in 1985. Excuse me, 1987 masters universe. I think that one was going more for like an action.
[00:09:42] Serious action hero type thing.
[00:09:45] And they. I think they fell short a couple of different ways. Storytelling was one.
[00:09:53] Not in its totality, of course. It had good segments and such like that. But I think, like, when they did this one, you know, the 2026 one, you have better visual effects, you know, and you had a decent storyline, you know, it made sense. I guess that's the best way I could put it.
[00:10:20] And they didn't stay too long in the Earth Realm and they were able to tell the story while moving it forward and such like that.
[00:10:32] So I thought that was good. Now, there were some things that I felt like they should have fleshed out, but overall I thought it was really decent. Now, when he. And it was. I mean, it was action in it, obviously, but it was also comedy. And it had like, it's.
[00:10:51] It had like its cartoon feel to it.
[00:10:55] So it wasn't that people didn't air quotes die. It was that like most of the time, what would normally would be more dramatic, serious tone in certain aspects was more of a comedy type, laid back, you know, Traditional type, you know, cartoon in a live action setting. And I don't think there's nothing wrong with that. I really don't.
[00:11:26] As an example, like, one of the things I thought they did good was showing his frustration and him telling everybody, this is me, this is where I came from. And everybody like, yeah, he need to go back to therapist.
[00:11:43] You know what I'm saying? I thought that was done really good. And. And then when he finally proved that it's right, he's like, I told you. Then he looked around like, okay, not. Not you guys. Oh, my bad. Spoiler alert.
[00:11:56] Just in case you guys haven't seen it yet, spoiler alert.
[00:12:01] And so that was one of the things that I thought was really good because that was. Would be it an normal reaction, I'm going to say obvious, but that would be a normal reaction to somebody saying that you're crazy the entire time just for it to be proved that you're not crazy, you know, if, like, no, I'm not crazy, you know, So I thought that was really good that they were able to do that. You know, some of the other things I thought was good was the design and the character design, the makeup and everything. I thought that was good as well. Well, okay, now there's always room for improvement, but it wasn't meant to be taken like a serious action movie. It was more like a action comedy, if that makes sense. And you don't normally see action and comedy set together like that outside of like, you know, traditional American cartoons. Like the person got stabbed, thrown into a wall, stabbed again, blown up, and they were still alive at the end, you know what I'm saying? That doesn't normally happen, you know, and then, you know that the tragedy of his father passing away, that was an actual death. But he wouldn't. If, you know, if it was an action drama, he wouldn't have survived the, you know, the cave in the rocks, you know, saying he would have been. He would have been gone.
[00:13:38] But, you know, they allowed him, you know, they didn't kill him off in the rocks fall, and he got to do his dialogue and all that stuff like that in his farewell and everything, you know.
[00:13:52] And I thought it was also interesting that they said that the power is in him and not in the sword, you know, the power sword, you know, that's why it's called the power sword. But this. The sorceress explained it, you know, the. She put the power in him, you know, he is the, you know, power source, not the sword.
[00:14:21] I thought that was interesting.
[00:14:24] And but one of the things, there was a few things that was like sort of movie can happen type of a thing that just happened to find the right sword, you know, because that was one thing I was thinking about when he was looking for the sword and doing all these research and such like that, trying to find a sword.
[00:14:46] And he finds the sword and you know, he does the, the Chapman, you know, by the power of grace, go, you know, take me home.
[00:14:57] You know what I'm saying? He was like, I have the power. No, he's like, take me home. But I thought that was interesting that they didn't go through that whole motion. I'm, I'm happy they didn't.
[00:15:12] That would have take away from the story, but it was like, you know, everything fell in the place that needed to fall into place, if that makes sense. And there were certain times where he was swinging the sword around while he was running, not fighting while he was running. And he didn't hit nobody, you know, saying. I was like, yeah, that was an action drama. He'll be slicing everybody up by an accident, of course, but he can't do that because he's a hero, right? Accidentally killing people. But you know what I'm saying? But. And that was something that I looked at as well.
[00:15:51] And then the swords and the signal and then they went on searching for it.
[00:15:56] Skeletor did good. That was great. And like I said, it wasn't a serious drama. It wasn't a serious action film. It was a comedy action film, which is kind of crazy. And instead of saying comedy action, I just says cartoon and live action. That's what it was, cartoon and live action.
[00:16:18] And it was funny because like, you know, Evil Lynn would say, you know, sure, Skeletor, you know, and like when I put my hand up, that's when, you know.
[00:16:32] And that was interesting too to see that, that dynamics. But there were instances, instances. And I think they put it in there a purpose. When his voice fluctuated a certain way, you understood like, okay, this is a serious moment, right? Then other times, you know, it's like comedy or whatever. But then there's other times like, okay, this is a serious moment, you know, And I think they did, they did good in that and separating those moments so that is understood and it doesn't confuse people.
[00:17:05] And that was, that was very important that it's easy, that it was easy to follow. Okay.
[00:17:13] And what got me at the end is they were all laughing and stuff. Like it was such a.
[00:17:19] I know the movies is built from the 80s, but that was such a 60s type thing to do, but they were just like, You know, that was such a. That was such a 60s thing. I was like, oh, my God. Okay, that's kind of corny, but I get it. You know what I'm saying?
[00:17:44] And. And then they were like, you know, I also. Oh, I almost skipped over it. I also like the way that they brought in the different name for the different, like, you know, people. And he explained. It was like I was. I was 10, you know, when it was like trap jaw. It was like, what?
[00:18:03] Like, you call on what.
[00:18:05] And it was. And then it was like, what's. What do you call him?
[00:18:09] Fisto.
[00:18:11] There was definitely adult humor in that Fisto mechanic, you know, saying.
[00:18:21] Now, I was surprised they didn't have many faces in there, but they did have Ram man.
[00:18:28] Like, and you hit stuff with your head. There was definitely a comedic spot in there as well. I'm not gonna mention it. But if, you know, you know, because I was like, oh, that's. That's. That's so wrong.
[00:18:47] All right. So, you know, the design of everything I thought was good and the visual effects was really good. And I think that everything they did with that was good as well. Even him understanding his power and such like that and being able to utilize his strength to the duration that he did means a lot as well.
[00:19:16] And when he was fighting Skeletor was able to be like, no, it's not, because I can't, is because I choose not to. You know, And I thought that was funny. And now there was one point.
[00:19:33] Well, it was three points in the movie. But this particular point in the movie, I was just like, if they end it this way, I do understand that would. It would be great for kids, but I would hate that ending. You know what I'm saying? And it was a part when he was, you know, trying to talk to Skeletor and was like, yo, you know, let's talk this out, blah, blah, blah. And then. And it almost seemed like Skeletor was gonna, like, you know, let relent and talk it out. And that would have been the end of the movie. And I'm like, no, don't end it that way.
[00:20:11] And then Skeletor was like, I am a villain. I was like, yes, get that last battle in time to duke it out.
[00:20:25] So that was the kid in me wanting to see them fight.
[00:20:29] That was great.
[00:20:30] And then having him, like, they all know, like, everybody in Eternia know that he is that Prince Adam. Is he. Man, it's like he never hit it at all.
[00:20:47] He never hid it at all in any portion of the movie. Okay.
[00:20:53] And now he's like, trying to hide it. I'm like, who what? You know, saying. And then man at Arms was just like, ah, just let him do his thing.
[00:21:08] So they all turn around and pretend like they. They don't know who he is. Oh, Prince Adam is gone. He's just going to do whatever. Oh, here's he man. Hi, he Man.
[00:21:18] You know, I thought that was funny. Oh, my God. And the way that they brought in the different names and stuff. And she was just like, so what do you call yourself?
[00:21:30] He says, I don't. I don't have a name. No, no, no, you named everybody. So. So what did you call yourself? And he was like, he man. They were like, he man. Yeah, because, you know, I'm a man and I'm macho, you know, and, you know, because, like, you know, when he was young, he was like a little runt, you know, he was like this small little kid that everybody beat up on. But yeah, so I thought that was funny the way they brought those different names in and stuff, because, like, some of those names and some of those power sets were interesting to say the least. Like, mechanic. He fight with his neck.
[00:22:17] He really does. If you haven't seen the movie, spoiler alert. Sorry. See the movie. It's great.
[00:22:25] You know. Now, one of the things I loved in there was man at Arms, that I like that. I like the way they portrayed him like a. Like, excuse my language, badass. He was definitely ba in that, you know what I'm saying? Like, he went out there kicking butt.
[00:22:44] Now, he lost against Trap Jaw, but it's just because I don't think he knew all the different power sets that Trap Jaw had in that one arm, okay? Because he hadn't used it. And so he didn't know, you know, And I thought that was interesting as well. So there was a few points that I thought was like, they could have done better.
[00:23:11] One of the points I thought they could have done better is.
[00:23:15] Well, I probably. Okay, how do I put it? I know why they put it in there. Because he man was from the Barbarian. And then later on, they changed it and changed the design and stuff like that so it made sense for the sword to be in there.
[00:23:29] And he was trying to get the sword back and that made into a little comedy thing. So that made it even funnier. So I get that part. And then he done wrecked the whole shop and he's like, running out of there. He stole the sword. He's running out of the thing and she's going like, are you single?
[00:23:49] That was wonderful. That was great. That was great.
[00:23:52] And the lady, his boss, trying not to, like, you know, be mean, you know, trying to be like, you know, talk it out and, like, you know, give him an ultimatum.
[00:24:06] I thought that was interesting. I was like, wow, she has a hard job.
[00:24:11] Oh, no.
[00:24:13] But I thought that was funny.
[00:24:16] But there were reports in there that I thought could have been better is whatever. But I thought overall it was. It was fairly decent. I did think it was fairly decent.
[00:24:26] The other thing I. I was kind of curious because when he mentioned about the sorceress and her bird form, it was like nobody else knew that she had a bird form.
[00:24:43] And I was like, that's interesting. So, yeah. And it brings up other questions, like, this is just me now in her board form, like, I don't know how they hunt or whatever, or what they hunt or where they get their food from or anything like that. And she's flying around in bird form, so I'm like, nobody tried to shoot her down for dinner, you know, like, if they don't know who that. That's a source is or whatever, you know. I thought about stuff like that, though.
[00:25:14] And then in the cartoon, nobody knows that Prince Adam is he man. In the cartoon, he never comes to Earth, per se.
[00:25:28] In the. In the cartoons that I've seen, he never comes to Earth. And so it makes sense for them to not really know who he man is outside of the sorceress. Of course she knows, because the power comes from Grayskull right now and then. But in the movie, everybody knows. But he's, like, trying to portray, like, nobody know. And that part was kind of confusing because, like, he never hit it at any point. I mean, ever. Like, his first time transforming was in front of everybody.
[00:26:06] I have the power, you know, and so I was like, no, everybody knows.
[00:26:17] You know, saying so. That was interesting.
[00:26:22] And the other thing that I thought was interesting was when they were leaving and Skeletor was standing there, Skeletor didn't attempt to shoot them down out of their aircraft because they kind of, like, stayed there for, like, a good few seconds, you know what I'm saying? And Skeletor staff before he man destroyed it Again, spoiler alert. Skeletor staff was very powerful, you know what I'm saying?
[00:26:54] It broke his sword. You know, the power didn't come from the sword, but it still broke his sword. You know what I'm saying? It broke his sword. That Stellator power staff broke his sword. Now he was able to reassemble it once he realized the power came from him, you know, and not the sword.
[00:27:15] He wields the sword, but, you know, that's, you know, is what it is. So that's what I think about the movie overall. There's. Like I said, I think it's good for what it is. Don't go in there expecting to see MI6, you know, type action seriousness and all that stuff like that is more of a hodgepodge or a live action cartoon. David had Oracle in there at the end for the end credits and stuff like that. And it did have Shira in there as well. So I want to see if they do do a Shira movie. I think that would be great.
[00:27:58] So I would definitely give it a thumbs up, but I'll also do it a. What I call a cautionary thumbs up. So you won't go in there expecting it to be like a traditional action drama movie. It's not. It's more of a cartoon action movie, you know, where it's mostly on cartoon principles where the person gets stabbed like 80 times, shot 50 times, and they're still alive to give their final monologue or whatever. You know, there were only, I think maybe two or three times where Skeletor killed Mossman, I think it was, and he didn't, you know, that was, that was done. You know what I'm saying?
[00:28:47] And then I think it was when he man stabbed one of the warriors. I think he stabbed that warrior like four times and then pinned that warrior to the wall. And then when he got his sword back, that warrior was still alive, so.
[00:29:04] And moving around.
[00:29:06] So it was like, okay now. And, and they, you know, so it was stuff like that. And it was like, you know, when a dude got kicked off Snake Mountain, he was like, ah.
[00:29:18] But before that he got shot, got ran into the wall, got blew up, got knocked out, got stabbed again and then got blowed off the Snake Mountain and was still alive.
[00:29:30] So, yeah, that's definitely cartoon. So cartoonish. So if you go in there with the attitude of like, you know, this is a cartoon, I'm gonna enjoy it. I'm not gonna take it to too seriously. You know, it's. It's just to have fun and to enjoy the, the show, enjoy the movie and, and you'll definitely see the, the, the superhero laugh is what I call it. Or, or you can say the villain. Villain laugh like that as well. But mostly like that, you know, type of thing. And I'm just Like, oh, my God, are you saying serious? And at one point it kind of seemed like maybe it was from my perspective, it kind of seemed like they were looking at each other to see who was. Is going to laugh the longest.
[00:30:23] I don't know. That's just me. That's absolutely.
[00:30:28] All right, y'. All. That's my review on He Man Masters of the Universe. It is a reboot to the Master Universe that came back, came out in 1987. I said, came back, came out in 1987. [00:40:10] And I thought that was interesting because both were important to give the premise of what he man is about, you know.
[00:40:21] And there are three major feature film. The first one was back in 1985. It was an animated movie. He Man. Animated movie. And it was he man and she ra the secrets of the sword.
[00:40:40] That was back in 1985.
[00:40:43] All right, now fast forward a few years.
[00:40:47] There was the first Masters of the Universe, which starred Dolph London.
[00:40:53] I hope I pronounced his name right as He Man.
[00:40:57] And this was live action and just a little Snippet on Dolph London. He is my. One of my favorite actors. And him and Rocky iv, when he plays the Soviet boxer, he was the guy that you love to hate. He played his role perfectly, okay?
[00:41:18] And a lot of people don't give the villain the credit they deserve because it's the villain that makes the movie or that makes the hero look good. You know what I'm saying? Because this dude came across as a beast, all right? Now when he played he man and. And Masters of universe, it's the 80s, okay? So, you know what I'm saying? It's not a whole lot you could say in regards to that, you know, because, you know, they did the visual effects and special effects as best as they. They could do because it was the 80s, you know, I mean, and it did have.
[00:42:00] When I went back and revisited, I liked it. But, you know, I. I did give them the benefit of the doubt because it's an 80s film.
[00:42:09] And with that being said, you have 80s special effects, 80s visual effects, you know, all of that. And it did have a.
[00:42:18] What is it called?
[00:42:20] Star wars type feel to it at certain point. But Dolph London is an action actor, you know, Action actor. He's an action actor and he's played in a lot of movies.
[00:42:36] You know, one of the. You know, I like, you know, him and Rocky, you know, as I mentioned earlier, he's the gov. The guy that you love to hate. You know, he did his role perfectly. You know, you. You. It was like, okay, you know, saying.
[00:42:53] Now with that being said, he did a wonderful job in Masters and Universe, but it is what it is. You know, a lot of people might talk about the writing of the movie or whatever. I'm not gonna deep dive into that. That's not what we here to review. I'm gonna chop it up as a great B movie for what it was in the 80s and it was in the 80s. So, you know, I mean, absolutely.
[00:43:31] And moving forward to this one is like, you know, he did a good job. And I don't remember his name right now. I got my little cheat sheet over here.
[00:43:49] Nicholas.
[00:43:52] I can't pronounce his last name, but I believe he did a good job. The dude named Nicholas or whatever.
[00:44:02] I believe he did a good job. And in. In the first one, they did do a lot of emphasis on he man's muscles, right?
[00:44:11] And in this one, it wasn't just his muscles, it was also his intellect.
[00:44:17] Now, there were some people said that it was kind of silly, but I don't Think so. Given the aspect of them staying true to, to the design or the cartoon design or comic book design of Eternia and the weapon systems that they had available.
[00:44:38] I thought I did. I thought they did a really good job. I really do.
[00:44:46] Did have like.
[00:44:48] It wasn't a serious action film and I think that's what the first one was trying to do. The first masters universe in 1985, excuse me, 1987 masters universe. I think that one was going more for like an action, serious action hero type thing.
[00:45:09] And they, I think they fell short a couple of different ways. Storytelling was one.
[00:45:17] Not in its totality, of course. It had good segments and such like that. But I think like when they did this one, you know, the 2026 one, you have better visual effects, you know, and you had a decent storyline, you know, it made sense. I guess that's the best way I could put it.
[00:45:44] And they didn't stay too long in the Earth realm and they were able to tell the story while moving it forward and such like that. So I thought that was good. Now, there were some things that I felt like they should have flushed out, but overall I thought it was really decent. Now when he. And it was. I mean, it was action in it, obviously, but it was also comedy and it had like its.
[00:46:15] It had like its cartoon feel to it.
[00:46:19] So it wasn't that people didn't air quotes die. It was that like most of the time what would normally would be more dramatic, serious tone in certain aspects was more of a comedy type, laid back, you know, traditional type, you know, cartoon in a live action setting. And I don't think there's nothing wrong with that. I really don't.
[00:46:50] As an example, like, one of the things I thought they did good was showing his frustration and him telling everybody, this is me, this is where I came from. And everybody like, yeah, he need to go back to therapist.
[00:47:07] You know what I'm saying? I thought that was done really good. And. And then when he finally proved that it's right, it's like I told you, then he looked around like, okay, not, not you guys. Oh, my bad. Spoiler alert.
[00:47:20] Just in case you guys haven't seen it yet, spoiler alert.
[00:47:25] And so that was one of the things that I thought was really good because that was. Would be it an normal reaction, I'm going to say obvious, but that would be a normal reaction to somebody saying that you're crazy the entire time just for it to be proved that you're not crazy.
[00:47:44] You know, it's like, no, I'm not crazy, you know, So I thought that was really good that they were able to do that. You know, some of the other things I thought was good was the design and the character design, the makeup and everything. I thought that was good as well. Okay, now, there's always room for improvement, but it wasn't meant to be taken like a serious action movie. It was more like a action comedy, if that makes sense. And you don't normally see action and comedies set together like that outside of, like, you know, traditional American cartoons, like the person got stabbed, thrown into a wall, stabbed again, blown up, and they were still alive at the end. You know what I'm saying? That doesn't normally happen, you know, and then, you know that the tragedy of his father passing away, that was an actual death. But he wouldn't. If, you know, if it was an action drama, he wouldn't have survived the, you know, the cave in the rocks, you know, saying he would have been. He would have been gone.
[00:49:02] But, you know, they allowed him, you know, they didn't kill him off in the rocks fall, and he got to do his dialogue and all that stuff like that in his farewell and everything, you know.
[00:49:16] And I thought it was also interesting that they said that the power is in him and not in the sword, you know, the power sword, you know, that's why it's called the power sword. But this. The sorceress explained it. You know, the. She put the power in him, you know, he is the, you know, power source, not the sword.
[00:49:45] I thought that was interesting.
[00:49:48] And.
[00:49:50] But one of the things, there was a few things that was like sort of movie can happen type of a thing that just happened to find the right sword, you know, because that was one thing I was thinking about when he was looking for the sword and doing all these research and such like that, trying to find a sword.
[00:50:10] And he finds the sword and, you know, he does the. The Chapman, you know, by the power of grace, go, you know, take me home.
[00:50:21] You know what I'm saying? He was like, I have the power. No, he's like, take me home. But I thought that was interesting that they didn't go through that whole motion. I'm. I'm happy they didn't.
[00:50:36] That would have take away from the story, but it was like, you know, everything fell in the place that needed to fall into place, if that makes sense. And there were certain times where he was swinging the sword around while he was running, not fighting while he was running, and he didn't hit nobody, you know, saying I was like, yeah, that was an action drama. He'll be slicing everybody up by an accident, of course, but he can't do that because he's a hero, right? Accidentally killing people, but you know what I'm saying? But. And that was something that I looked at as well.
[00:51:15] And then the swords and the signal and then they went on searching for it.
[00:51:20] Skeletor did good. That was great. And like I said, it wasn't a serious drama. It wasn't a serious action film. It was a comedy action film, which is kind of crazy.
[00:51:34] And instead of saying comedy action, I just says cartoon and live action. That's what it was. Cartoon and live action.
[00:51:42] And it was funny because, like, you know, Evil Lynn would say, you know, sure, Skeletor. You know, it's because, like, when I put my hand up, that's when, you know. And that was interesting too, to see that, that, that dynamics. But there were instances, and I think they put it in there on purpose, when his voice fluctuated a certain way, you understood like, okay, this is a serious moment. Right? Then other times, you know, it's like comedy or whatever. But then there's other times like, okay, this is a serious moment, you know, And I think they did. They did good in that and separating those moments so that is understood and it doesn't confuse people. And that was. That was very important. That is easy. That it was easy to follow. Okay.
[00:52:37] And what got me at the end is they were all laughing and stuff. Like, it was such a. I know the movies is built from the 80s, but that was such a 60s type thing to do. But they were just like, You know, that was such a. That was such a 60s thing. I was like, oh, my God. Okay, that's kind of corny, but I get it, you know what I'm saying?
[00:53:08] And. And then they were like, you know, I also. Oh, I almost skipped over it. I also like the way that they brought in the different name for the different, like, you know, people. And he explained, it was like I was. I was 10, you know, when it was like trap jaw, it was like, what?
[00:53:27] Like you call on what.
[00:53:29] And it was. And then it was like, what's. What do you call him?
[00:53:33] Fisto.
[00:53:35] There was definitely adult humor in that Fisto mechanic, you know, saying.
[00:53:45] Now I was surprised they didn't have many faces in there, but they did have Ram man, like, and you hit stuff with your head. There was definitely a comedic spot in there as well. I'm not gonna mention it. But if, you know, you know, because I was like, oh, that's, that's, that's so wrong. They.
[00:54:11] All right. So, you know, the design of everything I thought was good and the visual effects was really good. And I think that everything they did with that was good as well. Even him understanding his power and such like that and being able to utilize his strength to the duration that he did means a lot as well.
[00:54:40] And when he was fighting Skeletor was able to be like, no, it's not because I can't. It's because I choose not to. You know, And I think that was funny. And now there was one point.
[00:54:57] Well, it was three points in the movie. But this particular point in the movie, I was just like, if they end it this way, I do understand that would. It would be great for kids, but I would hate that ending. You know what I'm saying? And it was a part when he was, you know, trying to talk to Skeletor and was like, yo, you know, let's talk this out, blah, blah, blah. And then. And it almost seemed like Skeletor was gonna, like, you know, let relent and talk it out, and that would have been the end of the movie. And I'm like, no, don't end it that way.
[00:55:35] And then Skeletor was like, I am a villain. I was like, yes, let's get that last battle in time to duke it out.
[00:55:49] So that was the kid in me wanting to see them fight.
[00:55:53] That was great.
[00:55:54] And then having him like, they all know, like, everybody in Eternia know that he is that Prince Adam is he man. It's like he never hit it at all.
[00:56:11] He never hid it at all in any portion of the movie. Okay.
[00:56:17] And now he's like, trying to hide it. I'm like, who What? You know what I'm saying? And then man at Arms was just like, ah, just let him do his thing.
[00:56:32] So they all turn around and pretend like they. They don't know who he is. Oh, Prince Adam is gone. He's just gonna do whatever. Oh, here's he man. Hi, He Man.
[00:56:42] You know, I thought that was funny. Oh, my God. And the way that they brought in the different names and stuff. And she was just like, so what do you call yourself?
[00:56:54] He says, I don't. I don't have a name. No, no, no, you named everybody.
[00:57:02] So what did you call yourself? And he was like, he man. They were like, he man. Yeah, because, you know, I'm. I'm a man and I'm macho, you know, and, you know, it's because, like, you know, when he was young, he was like a little runt, you know, he was like this small, little, little kid that everybody beat up on. But yeah, so I thought that was funny the way they brought those different names in and stuff. Cuz like some of those names and some of those power sets were interesting to say the least. Like mechanic, he fight with his neck.
[00:57:41] He really does. If you haven't seen the movie, spoiler alert. Sorry. See the movie. It's great, you know. Now one of the things I loved in there was man at Arms. That I like that. I like the way they portrayed him like a, like a skew my language badass. He was definitely ba in that, you know what I'm saying? Like he went out there kicking butt.
[00:58:08] Now he lost against Trap Jaw. But it's just because I don't think he knew all the different power sets that Trap jaw had in that one arm, okay. Because he hadn't used it and so he didn't know, you know.
[00:58:25] And I thought that was interesting as well. So there was a few points that I thought was like, they could have done better.
[00:58:35] One of the points I thought they could have done better is.
[00:58:40] Well, I probably. Okay, how do I put it? I know why they put it in there because he man was from the barbarian. And then later on they changed it and changed design and stuff like that. So it made sense for the sword to be in there and. And he was trying to get the sword back and that made into a little comedy thing. So that made it even funnier. So I get that part. And then he done wrecked the whole shop and he's like running out of there. He stole the sword. He's running out of that thing and she's going like, are you single?
[00:59:13] That was wonderful. That was great. That was great.
[00:59:16] And the lady, his boss, trying not to like, you know, be mean, you know, trying to be like, you know, talk it out and like, you know, give him an ultimatum.
[00:59:30] I thought that was interesting. I was like, wow, she has a hard job.
[00:59:36] Oh no.
[00:59:37] But I thought that was funny.
[00:59:40] But there were reports in there that I thought could have been better is whatever. But I thought overall it was, it was fairly decent. I did think it was fairly decent.
[00:59:50] The other thing I, I was kind of curious because when he mentioned about the sorceress and her bird form, it was like nobody else knew that she had a bird form.
[01:00:07] And I was like, that's interesting. So, yeah, and it brings up other questions like this is just me now in her board form. Like, I don't Know how they hunt or whatever or what they hunt or where they get their food from or anything like that. And she's flying around in bird form, so I'm like, nobody tried to shoot her down for dinner, you know, like, if they don't know who that. That's a source is or whatever, you know me. I thought about stuff like that, though. And then in the cartoon, nobody knows that Prince Adam is he man. In the cartoon, he never comes to Earth, per se.
[01:00:52] In the. In the cartoons that I've seen, he never comes to Earth. And so it makes sense for them to not really know who he man is outside of the Sorceress. Of course she knows, because the power comes from Grayskull right now and then. But in the movie, everybody knows. But he's like trying to portray like, nobody know. And that part was kind of confusing because, like, he never hit it at any point, I mean, ever. Like, his first time transforming was in front of everybody.
[01:01:30] I have the power, you know.
[01:01:36] And so I was like, no, everybody knows, you know, saying. So that was interesting.
[01:01:46] And the other thing that I thought was interesting was when they were leaving and Skeletor was standing there. Skeletor didn't attempt to shoot them down out of their aircraft because they kind of like stayed there for like a good few seconds, you know, saying. And Skeletor staff before he man destroyed it again, spoiler alert. Skeletor staff was very powerful, you know what I'm saying? It broke his sword. You know, the power didn't come from the sword, but it still broke his sword, you know what I'm saying? It broke his sword. The ster power staff broke his sword. Now he was able to reassemble it once he realized the power came from him, you know, and not the sword.
[01:02:39] He wields the sword, but, you know, that's, you know, is what it is. So that's what I think about the movie overall. There's. Like I said, I think it's good for what it is. Don't go in there expecting to see MI6, you know, type action, seriousness and all that stuff like that is more of a hodgepodge or a live action cartoon. Even had Oracle in there at the end for the end credits and stuff like that. And they did have Shira in there as well. So I want to see if they do do a Shira movie. I think that would be great.
[01:03:22] So I would definitely give it a thumbs up, but I'll also do it a, what I call a cautionary thumbs up. So you won't go in there expecting it to be like a.
[01:03:35] A traditional action drama movie. It's not. It's more of a cartoon action movie, you know, where it's mostly on cartoon principles where the person gets stabbed like, 80 times, shot 50 times, and they're still alive to give their final monologue or whatever. You know, there were only, I think, maybe two or three times where Skeletor killed Mossman, I think it was. And he didn't. You know, that was. That was done. You know what I'm saying?
[01:04:11] And then I think it was when he man stabbed one of the warriors. I think he stabbed that warrior like, four times and then pinned that warrior to the wall. And then when he got his sword back, that warrior was still alive, so.
[01:04:28] And moving around, so it was like, okay, now. And. And they, you know, so it was stuff like that. And it was like, you know, when a dude got kicked off Snake Mountain, he was like, ah.
[01:04:42] But before that, he got shot, got ran into the wall, got blew up, got knocked out, got stabbed again, and then got blowed off the Snake Mountain and was still alive.
[01:04:55] So, yeah, that's definitely cartoon. So cartoonish. So if you go in there with the attitude of, like, you know, this is a cartoon, I'm gonna enjoy it. I'm not gonna take it too seriously. You know, it's. It's just to have fun and to enjoy the. The show, enjoy the movie, and.
[01:05:16] And you'll definitely see the.
[01:05:18] The superhero laugh is what I call it. Or. Or you can say the villain. Villain laugh like that as well, but mostly like that, you know, type of thing. And I'm just like, oh, my God, are you serious? And at one point, it kind of seemed like maybe it was from my perspective. It kind of seemed like they were looking at each other to see who was. Is gonna laugh the longest.
[01:05:47] I don't know. That's me. That's it.
